Big Changes

If you've been to the "small steps"page, you know that this journey has been a long one! Well consider this the abbreviated version - just the highlights of my major accomplishments in weight loss and fitness over the past few years.

Weight Loss

05/08 - 150 lbs (college graduation)
02/09 - 180 lbs (heaviest weight)
01/12 - 170 lbs (start of focused weight loss)
04/12 - 137 lbs (hit a plateau, boo)
09/12 - 130 lbs (initial goal weight!)
05/13 - 130 lbs - still maintaining!

Running & Races

Aug 14, 2010 - Galveston Sand Crab 10k (1:10-1:15)
First race ever! Timing chip didn't work but I think it was about 1:15 - some walking involved! 

Sep 24, 2010 - Houston Triathlon - Olympic Distance (3:25:29)
1500m swim (34:40), 40k bike (1:21:11), 10k run (1:13:53), plus transition time

Mar 12, 2012 - Beaumont Gusher Half Marathon (2:21:11 / 10:43 pace)
First time I had training for anything at all since the 2010 triathlon. At this time I was working on weight loss and was probably about 145 lb. Ran with my brother - first 10 miles were good, last 3 miles we rough!!

Dec 2, 2012 - Dallas Half Marathon (1:58:59 / 9:04 pace) - personal record!
First race after I had completed my weight loss and started working on speed. My goal was to finish under 2 hours. Looking forward to beating this PR sometime soon I hope!

Feb 17, 2013 - Austin Marathon (4:29:41 / 10:10 pace) personal record!
Obviously a PR since I've only run one marathon but whatever! My goal was to run the whole thing without stopping (done!) and maybe maintain a 10:00 pace (close!). Just thrilled to finish and to finish at a faster pace than my first half marathon less than one year before. Full race recap in this post.

Mar 9, 2013 - Beaumont Gusher 5k (23:13 chip time / 7:14 pace, course was long)
Passed on the half marathon since this was just a few weeks after Austin and did my first ever 5k! I was hoping to beat my previous best training pace of 7:20 min/mile. Placed 2nd in my age group, 5th woman overall - so excited I was getting a medal! Also thought my heart was going to explode!

Mar 23-24, 2013 - Texas Independence Relay
Part of a 12 person team running a non-stop 200 mile relay race across Texas - super fun! I ran 3 legs of 4-6 miles each, all at ~7:50 pace.

May 3, 2013 - Calder Twilight 5k (22:07 / 7:07 pace) personal record!
Originally hoped to PR this race, but wasn't feeling great the week before so I didn't expect it. Ended up being a great race. Finished 6th woman overall, but 4th in my age group so no bling for me!
